PCIe 5.0 M.2 drives run hot, and heat is the most common reason one goes unresponsive after heavy sustained writes.

The biggest ones: that SSDs can't fail because they have no moving parts, that they're always too expensive to be worth it, that they're too complicated to install in an older computer, and that a deleted file is unrecoverable the instant TRIM runs.

Stop using the drive immediately, don't reboot repeatedly, and connect it to a second machine (or a USB enclosure) to check whether the problem is really the SSD or just the operating system on top of it.

It changes how fast the cloud service itself responds, but it doesn't change what you're responsible for on your own end.

TRIM, not the operating system, is what actually erases a deleted file's storage on an SSD, and it runs on its own schedule, not the instant you hit delete.
Not sure yet? Just ask.
Tell us what the drive is doing and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth recovering — no charge, no sales call, usually the same day.
